Watch: Haunting New Trailer For Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled

Universal Pictures have unveiled the brand new trailer for their hugely-anticipated summer film The Beguiled, which you can view in the player below!

After being absent from cinemas since 2013’s The Bling Ring (Netflix’s A Very Murray Christmas notwithstanding), Academy Award Winner Sofia Coppola, writer/director of Lost in Translation and The Virgin Suicides, returns with her latest film based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan.

Colin Farrell (The Lobster) stars in the lead role as a soldier who is saved from near death by a young girl who brings him back to her home, a girl’s academy,  where he is cared for. But soon envy, rage, and lust tear the girls apart leading to some tragic circumstances. Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) plays the head of the house with Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon), Oona Laurence (Pete’s Dragon) and Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys) amongst those playing the girls.

The film has been selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The Beguiled is Sofia Coppola’s screenplay adaptation of Thomas Cullinan’s novel of the same name, which will screen in competition at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Golden Globe Award winner Colin Farrell (Focus’ In Bruges), Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours), Emmy Award nominee Kirsten Dunst (making her fourth movie with Ms. Coppola), and Critics’ Choice Award nominee Elle Fanning(making her second movie with Ms. Coppola) lead the cast of The Beguiled, which will be released in UK cinemas July 14^th 2017.
